Not Forgotten (Psalm 69:7-18)

Have you ever felt misunderstood or abandoned during a difficult season? Psalm 69:7-18 gives voice to the pain of someone who feels rejected, isolated, and overwhelmed. The psalmist speaks of insults, shame, and tears. Yet even in the middle of suffering, he turns toward God rather than away from him. He prays, “Answer me, O Lord, for your steadfast love is good; according to your abundant mercy, turn to me” (v. 16). These words remind us that faith does not require pretending everything is fine. God welcomes honest prayers. We can bring our grief, our questions, and our disappointments before him, trusting that his love remains steadfast even when life feels uncertain. There are seasons when following God can leave us feeling lonely or misunderstood. The psalmist experienced that reality, and many believers have as well. Yet suffering does not mean that God has abandoned us. His grace continues to work within us, shaping holy hearts that learn to trust him more deeply. As we respon...

The Gift of Presence (John 14:15-21)

There are moments when love is more than a feeling. It shows up in the choices we make when no one is watching. It takes shape in patience, in forgiveness, in staying when it would be easier to walk away. We often say love matters, but Jesus invites us to live as though it truly does. In John 14:15-21 , Jesus says, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” Then he offers a promise: “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever” (vv. 15-16). Love and obedience are not burdens here. They are signs of relationship. As we respond to Christ’s love, we are not left to figure it out on our own. The Spirit comes alongside us, guiding and strengthening us in ways we could never accomplish by ourselves. Embracing this relationship, we begin to experience the holiness of heart and life that God desires for us. Our response to God’s love is not merely passive; it requires our active participation. This is where the cooperative work of grace comes into...

On the Mountain with God (Exodus 24:1-11)

There are moments in life that are so full of emotion and promise they feel almost too big to trust. A couple standing at an altar making vows. Watching the birth of your child. A child hears a parent say, “I will always love you.” A friend says, “I will be there.” These moments are holy, but they can also feel fragile. We know how easily promises can be broken. So when we hear about covenant in scripture, it can feel both beautiful and risky. Maybe you have sat at a table with someone and realized that something deeper was being formed, something rooted in commitment and care. Those moments help us understand what is happening in Exodus 24 . In this passage, God invites Moses, Aaron, and the elders to come up the mountain. There is both nearness and distance. “Worship at a distance,” God says, and yet Moses is drawn closer still. This reminds us that God’s grace is always reaching toward us before we reach toward him. Even when we feel far away, God’s grace is already at work, invitin...
