A New Day

Forgive me for starting off with a rather clichéd title. But this is a new season in my life. I am now officially retired as an itinerating elder in the United Methodist Church. While I am accepting work on a supply or interim basis, I am seeking to offer opportunities of equipping disciple makers through online media. Most of this will be offered through online weekly gatherings using video, discussions, and instruction. 

Return to this page to look for opportunities to participate in various studies, including theology and church history as well as Bible studies. I also plan to begin a project on journaling. 

I look forward to working with you.

Completing the Work

Jesus praying to the Father said, "I glorified you on earth by finishing the work that you gave me to do." (John 17:4, NRSV) This line comes from what we often refer to as the High Priestly Prayer (John 17). It is the prayer that Jesus prays after the Last Supper and before his arrest. Making Disciples: Week by Week

A vital part of growing as a disciple is putting yourself in a position to be held accountable. This is best done with a small group of fellow disciples. It is before these people that we share our weekly, monthly, or life-long goals. It is this group of people who will ask us for a progress report week after week. It is to this group that we share our victories and our failures. This is the group that will help us to grow in holiness. It doesn't matter if it is called a Huddle, or an Incubator, or an Accountability Group, or an Emmaus Reunion Group, or a Disciple Bible Study, or any other small group gathering of Christian disciples. If the group members aren't being equipped, empowered, supported, and held accountable for continuing the process of making disciples, then it is not an effective or fruitful disciple-making ministry.
